Cheese, to the uninitiated, may not seem to have much to do with luxury camping. So what''s a guest post all about making cheese from Jess Trethowan at Trethowan’s Dairy doing here? Perhaps because the autumn Cheese School, held on our very doorstep just outside Bristol, sounds too lovely not to mention...
“The smell of the freshly picked and crushed apples in the Cider Barn at the Walled Garden in Wrington is an absolute joy. It smells of autumn, and in early October you could while away many happy hours, drinking in the sun, the apple juice and the Somerset countryside. I have been spending even more time than usual in this magical Walled Garden of late, as this is where we will be holding our third all day Cheese School at the end of October..."
Afghan Heroes is a charity supporting British forces serving in Afghanistan. They are holding their 2nd anniversary ball at Yarlington House, home of Yarlington Yurt, on 5th November, and the weekend's lucky yurt guests will get free tickets.
The evening starts with a champagne reception, followed by a fabulous silver service four course dinner, an 11-piece swing band, dancing and to top it all off, a firework display. Tickets are usually £65.00 per person, VIP Tickets £100.00. Dress Code: Black Tie. Arrival from 6:30pm, carriages at half past midnight - so not an event for those who like to be tucked up in bed early! But if you fancy an unforgettable Bonfire Night, book the yurt for the weekend, and attend the celebrations as guests of Carolyn and Charles de Salis at no extra charge...

It's just a few minutes drive from Chestnut Place and Birch Place at Adhurst Wood, and a lovely thing to do with children old enough to stay up late (or fans of the 80s classic, Big!).
17th and 24th September and 1st, 8th,15th and 22nd October.
Last weekend Westley Farm - home of Sapperton, Oakridge, Lilyhorn and Mole End Yurts - ran a Bushcraft and Foraging Course. They learnt how to safely use knives, to make wooden spoons, light and cook on fires, to build a shelter, make string from nettles and even walk a tightrope! separ...
