The Wild-de-go - Cabin in Cornwall

Owners Ivan and Emma tell us they bought this old 1920’s Isles of Scilly day tripper boat off an old pirate in North Cornwall for just two hundred and fifty gold coins. Of course, that tired shipwreck is far removed from the wonderful retreat that now sits in a secluded secret garden down from the main house, hidden behind the ‘magic gate’.
The Wild-de-go has gone through a complete makeover without losing any of her natural rustic charm, leaving all the original portholes, exposed beams and ribs of the boat all around you. She’s been fitted out with an insulated grass roof and a few luxuries like the fold away TV have been sneaked in. Ivan himself hand crafted all the repurposed wooden surfaces.
Inside, it's cool in the summer and surprisingly snug in the winter thanks to a toasty wood burner, under bed heater and extra electric heater. A suitably littoral beach hut loo and outdoor (but hot!) shell-shaped shower are both just steps away, and best of all, a private wood-fired hot tub is sunken into the surrounding timber decking - admire the pond from there and watch the resident ducks paddling around! Just arrange hire with Emma and Ivan before you arrive and they'll set up everything for you.
If you’re looking for choppier waters, you’re in the right place; Bude is 5 miles away with its sandy beaches, and great surfing at Widemouth Bay is just down the road. The Tamar Lakes are even closer and offer good walking and cycling, and the North Cornwall coast stretches out for miles of exploring.
**Please note the hot tub is £20 per session, payable directly to the owner. This does not go through Canopy & Stars.**
