Rustic family spaces where you can relax or take to the great outdoors with the greatest ease...

Tree Lodges is a huge project, constantly changing and always exciting.

The shacks themselves are beautifully constructed using natural timber framing techniques. Each shack has a ‘giant bunk bed’ arrangement, with a king-size bed on the top bunk under the velux window, three single beds in the middle bunk and a double bed on the lowest bunk (with low clearance - take a look at 'essentials' for bed sizes). They are off grid, but creature comforts have been replicated with ingenuity and style: gas hobs, and a wood-burning range which also heats the shower (there are more modern showers a short walk away if you can't wait for the wood-fired version). Get in touch with nature by setting up camp by one of the firepits and toasting marshmallows, or book a session in the secluded hot tub and bathe under the stars.

Geographically, the hub of the site is a great big café barn, the perfect watering hole for guests, walkers, families and nature-lovers alike. It serves delicious, freshly-prepared meals and snacks - pop in for coffee or dine in the evening. On and off site, there's so much to do, and something for everyone: bike hire, falconry, outdoor pursuits and pony trekking can be arranged locally. Swinton Park Hotel nearby has a deer park, cookery school and a spa if you fancy some pampering. You can lose yourself in the rambling beauty of North Yorkshire, head down to the barn for a browse in the gift shop, or just laze in the peaceful shack.

Our guests say...

"I took my 2 boys aged 5 & 9 plus my niece 12 & a friend came with me with her 9 year old daughter. We stayed around the farm & teh children found plenty to do in the woods & the druids - we hired the hot tub one afternoon which they loved, we were very lucky with the weather for the time if year so that helped - it does get very dark in the shacks again especially Oct so you need plenty of head torches & candles. there are some provided but Id take larger ones. the Bivouac cafe food was great & George behind the bar was great fun - we did a halloween walk which was free & they had put loads of effort into dressing the druids up. My one criticism would be that I think the shop could be better stocked with essentials - we took plenty with us & ate in the cafe a lot but you'd have to travel off site if you needed any real provisions. I will definitely go again but will probably try the yurts next time as they also looked great fun"

"Our stay was absolutely brilliant! The kids never didn't get bored, the scenery was spectacular and the staff were brilliant, making the entire stay superb. Definitely booking again for next year!"

"We had a wonderful time. The children loved the cabin and immediately began exploring the surrounding wood. A den was built before breakfast on the first morning and never an idle moment was had whenever we were at the cabin henceforth! Days began with the dawn and ended by candlelight and early nights for all. The Bivouac Cafe was welcoming no matter how many muddy boots stomped in and had a fantastic space for the children to play as well as activities to partake in if wanted (mugs were painted, stories were heard and kites made and flown on the hill outside the cafe whilst parents stayed in the warm!!). The location is perfect for exploring the Yorkshire Moors as well as providing enough to keep you busy if you want to stay around the site. A lot of thought has gone into the details to accommodate the needs of all ages. It really is a great choice for a family looking for something abit more adventurous or with a heart for environmental issues."
