Getting there

Camino Ardalejos 75, La Chichara, Alhaurín el Grande, Málaga, Spain, 29210

From Málaga Airport

Head in the direction of Torremolinos (MA-21). Take the first exit on the right in the direction of Coín and Alhaurín de la Torre (MA-404). You will pass through Churriana. Continue on the MA-404. This will take you passed the village of Alhaurín de la Torre. Keep following signs towards Coín (MA-404).

You will pass many roundabouts, and when you come to a large roundabout, make sure you head straight up the hill in the direction of Coín and Alhaurin el Grande (MA-404). Follow this road until you approach the entrance of the village, which you will recognize by a large BP petrol station called La Peñita.

Just before this petrol station you will see a small roundabout. Just before this roundabout there is a small road on the left hand side that goes up the hill. Keep following this road all the way up. You will know you’ve got the right road when you pass ‘Maderas La Peñita’ on your right hand side. A bit further up the road you will pass under a red and white striped pipeline.

Right after this pipeline, you will come to a T-junction, where you take a left turn.

Casa de Laila is the 4th house on the left hand side. It has a sign on the wall that says ‘La Chichara 75’. You can recognise the entrance by a small white statue of a woman curled up on a small pillar. Ring the bell and Anne Marie or Benjamin will open the electric gate to welcome you!

Eating & drinking

Upon arriving, you will find a small welcome pack in your tent, which includes a torch, matches, candles, incense, a map of the village and a bottle of wine, to help you settle in and feel at home.

During your stay you can enjoy a daily continental breakfast in the gentle morning sun, with eggs from Laila’s chickens (if they’re feeling generous) which is included in the costs. If you feel like indulging a bit more, there is a special breakfast menu available on request, which includes Eggs Benedict, amongst other delights.

Meet your hosts

ben and anne marie

A truly international affair

The flowering of their love also marked the birth of Casa de Laila as it is known today – a haven for those seeking peace and tranquillity in intimate natural surroundings. The summer of 2011 was Casa de Laila’s first as a fully operating Glamping Retreat, and they could not have wished for a better debut season.

After a career as a professional footballer and completing a bachelor of arts in Australia, Benjamin has moved to Spain and is now studying eco tourism. He loves the outdoors, yoga, cooking and plays the didgeridoo.

Anne Marie has left a career in advertising in Amsterdam to open a restaurant in Andalucia. From there she set up her vegetarian catering business Pachamama Catering (www.pachamamacatering.es). As well as catering for various retreats, Anne Marie also organises events, including satsangs and kirtan concerts.

La Jaima Andaluz

Centrepiece of the orchard is La Jaima Andaluz, a spacious Moroccan tent. Offeringshade and breeze, it’s a sanctuary for those seeking relaxation. It’s being used as a private space for yoga classes and massage treatments, but when not in use for those activities, it’s a great spot for you to unwind, read, listen to music, or play the guitar… There are plenty of cushions and even a small library and DVD collection.

All your rubbish is being recycled. You can help by using the ecological shower gel, shampoo and cleaning products that are being provided, and by using water and electricity wisely.
