Holiday and prize Terms & Conditions

The prize draw is to win a 4-night stay for one adult winner and three friends or one family of four (two adults and two young persons) at The Lovestruck on location at Wilderness Festival in Cornbury Park, Oxfordshire. Dates of stay are from 9^th to 13^th August, 2012. Dates are non negotiable.

2. The stay is on a self-catering basis. Travel to and from the prize destinations is not included. If the winner does not confirm approval within 28 days, the prize will be withdrawn.

Entering the Competition

1. The Sawday’s Canopy & Stars 2012 Great British Adventure competition (the “Competition”) is open to UK residents, Republic of Ireland, Channel Isles and Isle of Man aged 18 and over ("You") subject to paragraph 2 below.
2. Employees or agencies of Sawday’s, Guardian News & Media Limited its group companies or their family members, or anyone else connected with the Competition may not enter the Competition. 
3. By entering the Competition you are accepting these terms and conditions.
4. To enter the Competition, you must submit 150 words about your favourite holiday memory, send us a photo from the same trip and let us know your favourite travelling tune via the form at canopyandstars.co.uk/the-great-british-adventure/. Photo entries must be in the following file format: Jpeg, standard landscape (6” x 4”), maximum size 5MB.  If you have any questions about how to enter or in connection with the Competition, please e-mail us at info@canopyandstars.co.uk or travel@guardian.co.uk with “Sawdays Canopy & Stars 2012 Great British Adventure Competition” in the subject line.

Picking the winner

1. A panel of judges including Alastair Sawday, Guardian head of travel Andy Pietrasik and TV presenter Kate Humble (the “Judges”) will choose one winning entry from all the Competition entries.  Full details of the judging process and the Judges are available on request to info@canopyandstars.co.uk.
2. After 16 July 2012, SCS staff selects a shortlist of 10 finalists, based on the originality and the creativity of the entries. From 23 July 2012 – 27 July 2012 SCS staff will interview each of the 10 finalists by phone. Phone interviews will take place on a business day during the hours of 9am Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and 6pm (GMT). SCS staff will call up to three times and leave a message. If finalist does not respond to the SCS staff telephone call within three business days, finalist will be disqualified. Judges then select a grand prize winner from the 10 finalists, based on interview responses, and the originality and creativity of initial their entry.
3. The Judges’ decision of who the winner is will be made on or before 16 July 2012. The Judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. 

The Prize

1. One winner will win a 10-day tour for two of the UK. This will include taking in England, Scotland and Wales, with 20 activities, 9 nights accommodation, all transport, and meals worth £5,000. This includes all transport, hire cars, fuel, accommodation on a full-board basis in cabins, tents, treehouses, sleeper trains, Gypsy caravans and a converted fire-truck, activities including wild swimming, river tubing, woodcarving, reindeer trek and hiking (see the full itinerary canopyandstars.co.uk/the-great-british-adventure). Not included: spending money and travel to and from the starting and ending point in London. The winner is fully responsible and is strongly advised to take out adequate levels of travel insurance.
2. The winner will be notified by a member of SCS staff by phone on or before 1 August 2012.  If winner does not respond to SCS within seven days of being notified by SCS, then the winner’s prize will be forfeited and SCS shall be entitled to select another winner (and that winner will have to respond to the phone call or email from SCS within seven days or else they will also forfeit their prize).  If a winner rejects their prize, then the winner’s prize will be forfeited and SCS shall be entitled to select another winner. 
3. Details of the winner and their winning entry will also be published on canopyandstars.co.uk/the-great-british-adventure on 7 August and guardian.co.uk/travel on 11 August 2012.
4. The prize will be awarded to the winner by SCS by 7 August 2012 and travel will be from 7 September 2012 – 16 September 2012. Dates of travel are non-negotiable or transferable. If winner is unavailable for these dates, the winner’s prize will be forfeited and SCS shall be entitled to select another winner. Winner or guest must be in possession of a full UK driving license (inc. counterpart).
5. The prize cannot be exchanged or transferred by You and cannot be redeemed by You for cash or any other prize.  You must pay all other costs associated with the prize and not specifically included in the prize. 
6. We retain the right to substitute the prize or portion thereof with another prize of similar value in the event that the original prize offered is not available.
