Hercules - Wagon in Cornwall, United Kingdom

Last cache: 17:05:20, Friday 23 June 2017

Spring Park

Not suitable for children

Pets welcome

Pets may be brought at a surcharge of £20. We’re sorry children cannot be accomodated.

Discover an eclectic mix of antique and vintage, paired with a wood fired hot tub, at this van built on a 1930s Showman’s trailer

As you’d expect, Hercules is the largest of the four living wagons at Spring Park, and is completely self-contained with a cabin style bedroom and large shower room behind a reclaimed carriage door. The original English Rose kitchen has been repainted to reflect the period feel, and 1940’s cinema seats and a little built-in table make for a romantic meal with all the glamour of the era. A curved roof and painted oak beams frame your sturdy living space, which Kitty and Paddy have filled with little vintage trinkets, adding their own personal touch to the place. Hercules has his own quiet patch of mixed woodland and there’s a fire pit just outside where you can either cook an evening meal or just sit back in the evening and watch the stars.

Along with the books and games inside, you’ll also find a hamper for you to pack up a picnic and go off exploring the area, maybe down to the beach for surfing, walking across Dartmoor or wandering through the local villages and visiting the markets.

Our guests say...

Just loved our stay at hurcules. Do not have a bad word to say about any of it, loved having a working kitchen and bathroom with hot shower and toilet unlike other glamping places we have been to. Everything from the welcome wine and cake to the up-cycled furniture made it an unusual but amazing place to stay. We will definitely be back.

It was wonderful! Amazing little wagon in the woods, I thought the decor was very unique and had lots of well thought out little touches. It didn't even matter it rained the whole time because inside the Wagon was so lovely!

It's was an amazing stay we really enjoyed it and how quiet it was

We had the most relaxing time. Exactly what we needed after a very busy, travel filled working week. We stayed Friday and Saturday night and despite the other rentals all being occupied, it was quiet and peaceful. Hercules itself is a beautiful mix of vintage charm and quirky fun. We loved the bathroom door! We were greeted shortly after arriving then left to our own devices with a lovely bottle of wine and some cherry bakewell! Perfect hosts, perfect accommodation, perfect weekend.

It was lovely! Hercules is very comfortable, cozy and feels completely isolated in its own little glade. Paddy was very welcoming and there was a lovely bottle of wine and some biscuits waiting for us when we arrived. We had relaxing evenings in and spent the Saturday having a lovely walk and a drink in the pub. We'd definitely stay again!

We had a lovely stay-hercules is a lovely wagon with all the essentials (the shower is really good!) we loved having breakfast in our private woodland and chilling in the wagon at night. We stayed at spring Park before in the duchess - highly recommend it to others it's super :) hope to be back again next year!

We had the most fantastic time at Spring Park. Hercules was everything we could've imagined he was. Stunning to see and so so cozy inside. Paddy and Kitty have put so much effort into everything, from the gorgeous crockery to the amazing views from every window. Paddy showed us around the rest of the site and oh my goodness! There are 5 other stunning reasons to return to Spring Park.

Our stay was at the end of a lovely week away in Cornwall that we had been staying in yurts. The Luxury (with a capital L) of Hercules was incredible. The photographs really don't do this place justice. We arrived in sunshine and immediately cracked open a beer to appreciate the sunlight glinting through the Ash to the bluebells below, while the dogs bounded about and were greeted by Brook and Peggy. The inside of Hercules is surprisingly big, beautifully furnished and so well though out. A warm and powerful shower with lots of space. We were comfortable, warm, dry (it lashed it down the next day) and dreamt of living the showman's lifestyle. The small details really are wonderful, from matching plates and decorations to train doors and theatre seats...just wonderful! The dogs were very pleased. So were we! Merlot says that he'll write to his holiday romance girlfriend, Peggy! :-)

We had the most wonderful stay in Hercules. Everything was perfect from arrival to departure, and Kitty and Paddy helped make sure we had the most relaxing stay. Thank you. Whiskey dog also had just the best time. Thank you SO much x

A lovely weekend retreat in beautiful countryside with our dog. The property is is perfectly situated in its own little woodland area ideal for the dog to explore while we relaxed with a cup of tea and a good nook. Comfortable and ecclecric, Hercules is the perfect getaway.

Hercules is a beautiful place to stay and the owners' love for it shone through in the carefully restored wagon. An utter delight!

It was fantastic. Amazing setting, lovely family and the most unique experience.

Fantastic 2 night stay in this delightful wagon! We were gob smacked by the attention to detail and vintage feel of the interior and also the lovely secluded feel.

A lovely mid-week get away at a rather special place. Bright sunshine through the spring woods, a warm and lovely hidy hole away from the rat race. Cake and Wine waiting on arrivial.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the unique and quirky Hercules. Shabby chic at its "chic-est"! We were happy with the secluded location, no wireless and no TV! Don't change, just what was needed, true escapism. Mobiles off

This place was everything we wanted and more!!!! My wife and I was looking for a quiet quirky place to spend her birthday weekend and I decided to suprise her with this place and she was made up. Friendly and polite hosts to welcome you on arrival with all the information you need for your stay, they are also on site for assistance if needed. All in all we left really relaxed and content after our mini break/adventure and have already been talking of our return one day............

"We had a wonderful Christmas break at spring park. We stayed in the beautiful Hercules cabin, with our own little forest. Kitty and paddy were so welcoming and we even had our own Christmas tree and decorations! It was perfect for us as it was very dog friendly too. We will be going back again and again!"

"It was a magnificent break from the monotony of the working life. The three nights were filled with fine food, courtesy of the highly recommended Springer Spaniel pub and yours truly, wine, fire and the Scrabble Championship of Rezare. Coming home to the warm and welcoming embrace of Hercules after days spent by the Atlantic Ocean was perfect. A real experience and one I hope to repeat many times in the future"

"The stay was perfect and just what we had hoped for - relaxing and cosy. They provided mulled wine and cakes which was very thoughtful. The wagon itself was warm and decorated well. they provided us with everything we needed"

"Really good, Hercules Cabin all presented well and greeted with cakes and wine, really snug private spot and not to far of a drive into the nearest towns"

"We loved our stay!  The waggon was perfect for our needs and the location ideal for some exploration of the local area.  We can't wait to go back!"

"Fantastic kitty and co, lovely friendly welcome with wine and cakes, bottle of milk in fridge makes all the difference. Hercules wagon marvellous, cozy, cleverly kitted out, no corner cutting. Definitely visit again! It was all perfect only problem was leaving it!"

"Our trip was truly magical. From time of booking through to leaving, the owners touched based in the right ways. Upon arrival, the wagon was just perfect, even through to the complimentary cake, wine and marshmallows! We were so taken a back by their generosity. The location was perfect for venturing the Cornish coast and there were so many surreal places to visit nearby. The wagon was in a great secluded spot so the dogs could run around how they pleased! We loved every minute and cant wait to return!"'

"We stayed in Hercules, and could not believe how beautiful it was. The Wagon had everything you could need and it felt so homely. Loved the privacy of our own little woodland and outdoor fire."

"Comfortable and beautifully decorated, we had a lovely, peaceful weekend."

"Lovely relaxing stay in Hercules - a beautifully crafted and furnished cabin/train carridge/fun on wheels! Not only does it include fully equiped bedroom, lounge/kitchen (with log burner!) & bathroom but also your own outdoor space with firepit! The owners are lovely too. We would highly recommend :o)"

"This place was fantastic, The owners were brilliant I cannot thank them enough. We will be back. Everything was thought of. Hercules was spotless and decorated superbly with lovely little touches. I would highly recommend Speing Park to anyone"

At Spring Park

Spring Park is a peaceful spot where you could easily spend your days birdwatching and reading in your wagon, and your nights stargazing and sitting around the campfire.

Rainy days

If you fancy getting out and about, there are plenty of options when the weather's not quite up to scratch. Visit Dingles Heritage Fairground or a National Trust property such as Cotele House. The Eden Project is always popular as are the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Nearby Towns and Villages

Tavistock, for the famous Tavistock pannier market

Lostwithiel, for lovely antiques

Fowey, a pretty waterside village

Outdoor & Active

There are plenty of ways to get active in the area - cycle the camel trail, or go walking on Dartmoor or Bodmin Moor. There are also lovely beaches with good surfing on both the North and South coasts, some of which are dog friendly.

Food & Drink

At Spring Park

All of the wagons, the tabernacle and the cabin have their own fully equipped kitchens for you to cook yourself a feast in the evenings.

Local shops

The nearest shop is about three miles away in Stoke Climsland, or for more variety there are plenty of shops including a supermarket in Launceston, 5 miles away. Alternatively, groceries can be ordered or collected for you by prior arrangement - speak to Kitty before you arrive.

Pubs & Restaurants

Within walking distance, The Springer Spaniel pub is very nice and offers good quality food.

Or a little further down the lanes (and well worth the 3 mile drive) The Royal has lovely pub food in a picture perfect setting.

Meet your hosts

Meet Kitty & Paddy

Kitty and Paddy have recently taken over Spring Park with Kitty's parents Peter and Di, and they still can’t quite believe what a beautiful place they've ended up in! They used to run two little boutiques on Falmouth's Old High Street selling homewares, vintage finds and handmade dresses, and loves anything old or vintage...

Kitty has now happily found the perfect home for all her vintage treasures, hidden throughout the wagons at Spring park, and has lots of plans for trips out to the flea markets and villages to find more. Kitty and Paddy can't wait to explore the area a bit more (Kitty grew up here so will be rediscovering old haunts) and their two dogs Brook and Peggy can’t believe their luck at moving into such a lovely home in the countryside!

Wildlife & Environment

In a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and with an Site of Special Scientific Interest nearby, you'll be absolutely spoiled when it comes to wildlife spotting. If you sit outside by the fire pit, you'll probably see rabbits, birds and bats, and even deer have been spotted wandering across the gardens.

From the A30 at Launceston

1. Follow signs for the A388 Callington. Make sure you leave the A30 at the junction sign posted Callington keep following Callington signs until you reach the A388. If you are arriving from Exeter you'll have to go around a roundabout which will take you back on to the A30, travelling in the opposite direction. Stay on the A388 for about 4 miles until you see a pub called The Springer Spaniel.

2. Turn left here (signposted Rezare). Be careful as there are two turnings - you need to make sure you take the first one. Drive up the narrow road for about 1/2 a mile until you reach the village of Rezare.

3. At Rezare, take the first left (here you'll see a sign saying unsuitable for wide vehicles) and after 30m bear left again on to another narrow road. Follow this road for about 100m and you will see the first entrance signposted Duke. This is also where you'll park for Maiden and Wisteria Cottage.

If you're going to Hercules, St Agnes, The Old Potting Shed or Pip and Pip's Cabin, keep driving past the gate and go around the corner. Carry on a little further down the road, and on your left you'll see the second entrance, signposted Spring Park. Drive past the house and signs will direct to your parking spaces.

If you are arriving from the South ( A38, Plymouth, Liskeard and St Austell)

Booking Terms

Canopy & Stars low price promise

Book with us in confidence knowing you won’t find that place cheaper elsewhere. All of the prices we display are set and matched by our Owners. (In this world of foreign currency, we do have to say 'subject to exchange rates' for some of our European places.)

What does ‘from price’ mean?

Our ‘from price’ is based on a four night stay in low season and designed to help you to compare different prices across our collection. Some of our Owners vary their nightly rates and check in days throughout the year, so it may differ from the rate quoted below the calendar. It is quite common (although by no means universal) for places to charge a little more in peak season or for shorter stays, to cover changeover costs. Consider booking longer stays during the cooler months if you’re looking for the lowest nightly rates.
