Munday's Meadow - Camp in Gloucestershire, United Kingdom

Last cache: 11:03:56, Sunday 19 November 2017

Wild Wood Bluebell

Suitable for children of all ages

Not suitable for pets

Children welcome. Sorry no pets.

Your own private meadow in the middle of the Cotswolds. A four-tent camp great for getting the gang together

Bluebell, Daisy, Clover and Foxglove are the four lotus belle tents that make up Georgie’s amazing creation. This private group camp is settled in an ancient wildflower meadow, surrounded by fields and woodland, full of wildlife and shallow brooks – an idyllic setting that has inspired the subtle décor.

Tea lights, handmade cushions and and a floor laid with grass-like carpet follow the wildflower theme. Whether you’re coming for a hen party or a fun group gathering, Georgie can adapt the camp to suit you - the beds are made up of comfy futon mattresses. There are private washing facilities and a small kitchenette two minutes walk down the little wooded pathway. There's a beautiful dining tent with handmade dining table - enjoy a vintage afternoon tea or have a private chef cook up a hot dinner delivered to the site for you from just £10 per head. And when the stars come out, you can gather together around the fire pit drink in hand.

The surrounding Cotswold countryside offers something for everyone. There’s lots of walking and cycling to be done, and a whole host of local events all through the summer, from the Cheltenham Jazz Festival to Gifford’s Circus. Or stay at the meadow and enjoy the landscape, although don’t be surprised if your pony neighbours Bel and Tobin decide to join you for tea!

*Please note the hot tub is not available for any 2018 stays*

Hen Parties: Munday's Meadow is a relaxed venue great for hen dos - private, centrally located and with enough sleeping and dining space for up to 20.

Our guests say...

We booked a large group at Munday's Meadows as a surprise 40th birthday party for my husband. The site was lovely, the yurts were beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The kitchen was well kitted out and had enough for a party of 20....great long table too! We loved the fire pit hut and made good use of it on a chilly evening. We also used the out door fire pit which was great for doing marshmallows with the kids. Thinking of the kids - there was plenty of space for them to run and play. The hot tub was a nice feature ( although slow to heat up) and the place looked like a fairy tale land when all the lanterns were lit up. We had a wonderful time.

Andrea

I stayed in munday meadows with a group of 13 to celebrate my 21st birthday and it was an absolute blast! I've always wanted to go glamping and this was a perfect opportunity. We had a mixed group of boys and girls so the camp site was perfect to play football and frisbee. We even ordered pizza to the site from a local takeaway which was great! The weather wasn't too great however the hobbit hut and the dining marque are he perfect shelters. The campsite itself looks amazing! There were a few screams of excitement as we walked in because the pictures do not to the site space justice ! You have so much room. The area surrounding was lovely to take walks and see some beautiful country sites. We loved drinking inside the hotub although it was freezing outside. Georgina was a lovely host and was super friendly and helpful. She was always close by if we needed anything but we also had our complete privacy in the campsite. We had 3 complimentary bags of wood for the fire and hot tub which we thought wouldn't be enough but they lasted the 2 days. I would highly reccomend the meadows to camp for any group of people old or young- it was a fantastic weekend and I'd love to go again.

Joty

We visited Munday's Meadow to celebrate a family 30th birthday, and despite the wind and rain we still had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The location of the site is ideal and close to a range of towns for day trips out, though many of us decided to stay on site and embrace the wild by going for walks and playing games in the meadow (even in the rain!) The use of the hot tub and hobbit hut were great assets to our stay and without the hobbit hut we wouldn't have been able to cook, due to the wind blowing out the gas rings!! We had a great time and would love to do the glamping experience all over again! :)

Rachel

We had such a wonderful stay! The tents were made beautifully and even had hot water bottles left out for us. The kitchen essentials were all there and loved that tea and coffee was provided. We were a party of 15 and because we were out in the middle of a meadow making noise wasn't a problem.

jossie

We had a fabulous time despite the rain! Great facilities, lots to do fishing, bike riding, rounders, frisbee, hot tub. Amazing afternoon tea for fathers day and my 40th birthday! Great place for big groups of friends or family! Ideally situated to explore the Cotswolds! Lovely bell tents in a gorgeous wildflower meadow! Hobbit hut is fab of an evening to toast marshmallows and all snuggle up, everything you need for a great weekend away! Kids absolutely loved exploring the forest and pond dipping!

debbie

We had a fantastic stay despite the terrible weather outlook for the weekend! (snow and rain) The facilities were excellent and kept to a high standard and very clean too. Georgie was a great host which made the stay even better for us as she was very accommodating to our plans and the bad weather we had. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Emily

We had a fabulous time at Munday's Meadow. It was simply glorious for us to be free and at peace in the meadow. Everything has been beautifully done and well thought through so we were able to make ourselves at home quickly. The hot tub and hobbit hut were great fun and the space allowed for us to enjoy the weekend to the max. Georgie was really helpful in showing us around at the beginning and making sure we had everything we needed, and then she let us get on with it! We all loved it, highly recommend a stay here and hope to have an excuse to come back again!

Mary

12 of us stayed for a relaxed, layed back hen weekend. It was perfect for this with lots of peace and quiet but only a short drive from Moreton in Marsh for some lovely pubs.

12/06/2015

Abbi

We had a great hen weekend, loved the tents and particularly cosying up in the hobbit hut toasting marsh mallows over the fire. Lovely comfy beds and cosy duvets.

29/05/2015

Lorna

Girls weekend in three lovely yurts in the countryside. When it was chilly in the evening we went into the Hobbit Hut to warm up (although fortunately during the day it was sunny). The nearby bluebell woods were beautiful and well worth a wander.

15/05/2015

Emma

"We had a fantastic stay at Mundays Meadow to celebrate my 30th Birthday. Georgie made every effort to ensure we were comfortable with thick duvets and blankets galore. It even satisfied people in our party who hate camping! The glamping experience was brilliant with everything provided from plates and towels to tea and coffee. The meadow itself was amazing and full of wildlife, so peaceful at night...apart form the owls! The hobbit hut was a huge hit and a lot of campfire singing commenced here. Just perfect!"

26/09/2014

Sarah

"Had a very enjoyable stay, beautiful meadow and lovely tents."

25/07/2014

Nicci

"It exceeded our expectations, it was so beautiful and secluded. We loved our horse neighbours and the site was really well equipped. It really is glamping! We were not interrupted the whole weekend and made the most of being noisy out in the open spaces!"

11/07/2014

Sarah Jane

"Having a private field for just our party meant that we felt the kids were safe and meant you could really relax. The tents were lovely and cosy."

06/06/2014

Catherine

"Great stay! The owner sorted any queries we had immediately. Facilities were great, really cosy hobbit hut for spending time together."

25/04/2014

Suzanne

"We had a great time!!! Kids safely running around, BBQ's at night, watching the stars, waking up in a beautiful tent listening to the tent whilst being so warm. Exploring the woods, kids running around whilst I could read by the tent, meeting other families, lovely hot showers whilst I can hear the horses outside, we stayed another night and want to do it all again!!!!"

12/08/2013

Marlies

"Absolutely loved it. We hired two of the bell tents with friends of ours as a birthday treat for our 7-year-old daughter. The location is fantastic, the meadow itself is beautiful - especially the wild flowers - and being so close to a big supermarket to stock up on food and of course all the attractions of the Cotswolds makes everything so easy. And the tents and facilities themselves really do put the 'glam' into glamping. I loved the flush loos and power showers (wish i could have taken one home to our bathroom!), having a fridge-freezer and outlet to charge my mobile phone. The tents were decorated beautifully (I love the artificial grass inside!) and the beds were SO comfortable. I loved the white linens and Kizzy bedspread in ours (yes I like it so much I looked it up!). Georgie really does know how to add those touches that make things that much more special. Also, being able to go away with friends was lovely. And having wonderful weather helped a lot too! I would love to go back, and hope to in future. I have already recommended it to lots of friends."

Meet your hosts

Georgie & Francis have lived at Heath Barn for 20 years. In their creation of their shepherd's hut camps and wildflower meadow, they have combined their love of the local area and its outstanding natural beauty with the experience from many years of travelling. They invite guests to get outdoors and experience their wonderful home.

The two shepherd's huts and Munday's Meadow are on either side of the estate, and cannot be seen from each other. Posey and Lima share a bluebell wood and are not visible from one another, each with their own private space in the wood. Munday's Meadow is in the wildflower meadow, across two fields and a bridge. If you want to book the whole site, they're only around a 5 min walk apart.

Getting there

The Oaks, Heath Barn, Donnington, Gloucestershire GL56 OXU

We suggest arriving in daylight hours and getting to know the site and discovering some of the surrounding areas. Georgie & Francis are sometimes on site and if they are around they will come and say hello, usually whilst out walking their dog, Seeker. You'll be in complete privacy here, with no one around but you and groundskeeper Charlie who lives in the Woodmans Cabin.

By train & bus

The nearest station is Moreton-in-Marsh, a five mintue taxi ride from The Bluebell Wood. The train takes an hour and three quarters direct from London Paddington. Buses can get you to three miles away.

By car

DIRECTIONS:

From Stow-on-the-Wold take the A429 towards Moreton-in-Marsh, pass Tesco's supermarket on right, go downhill for approximately 1.5 miles to the crossroads marked Donnington left and Broadwell right. Continue on the main road, go past white cottages on the right and take the next driveway entrance with a white fence on the right, not the driveway to the main house and wrought iron gates. Follow signs to Heath Barn on the farm track. Go past the lake and park in the areas as signed.

From Moreton-in-Marsh take the A429 towards Stow-on-the-Wold. After approximately two miles see the driveway on the left hand side and the sign to Heath Barn. Follow the farm track and signs.

PARKING:

When you arrive, please park in the areas provided and spaces are clearly marked from there. It is an easy journey to the tents and social areas and you will find everything to hand. Your arrival instructions will tell you all you need to know.

For Lima and Posey walk across the field opposite the house and into the woods.

If you're going to Munday's Meadow, carry on to the crossroads towards the end of the farm track, and at this point Munday's Meadow will be marked. Follow the signs and continue along very bumpy track to parking area provided.  If this is too much for your car, please park in the grass area mowed and prepared for your arrival just before the crossroads. See parking sign by area. Continue on foot to the meadow which is a short distance way.

If you happen to get confused or lost in the process please contact Georgie or Francis, or if you can't get hold of them call Charlie's mobile.

2.4.1 Alterations to your Booking can only be made more than 10 weeks prior to the check in date, after which time alterations will be treated as cancellation. All alterations are subject to availability and may incur a £30 adminstration fee.

2.4.2 Differences in the total amount payable resulting from alterations will be refunded to you in the case of a decrease in price and paid by you in the case of increases in price.

Special note: Generally Owners will charge the above cancellation and amendment charges, however we must stress that these are a guide only and charges may differ from those shown here depending on the Owner. The exact charges will be notified to you by the Owner at the time of cancellation and/or can be found in the Owner’s own booking conditions which are available from the Owner on request.

3. Changes and Cancellations by the Owner

We will inform you as soon as reasonably possible if the Owner needs to make a significant change to your confirmed Arrangements or to cancel them. We will also liaise between you and the Owner in relation to any alternative Booking offered by the Owner but we will have no further liability to you.

4. Complaints

Because the contract for your Booking is between you and the Owner, any queries or concerns should be addressed to them. In the event that you have any complaint about your stay, please notify the Owner as soon as possible. If you don’t follow this procedure there will be less opportunity for the Owner to investigate and resolve your complaint and so make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Delays may also mean that amount of compensation you may be entitled to may be reduced. Whether or not your complaint is dealt with satisfactorily, please also contact us as we appreciate all feedback. It’s important to us and the Owner to know that you’ve enjoyed your stay or if anything could have been improved.

5. Pricing

Canopy & Stars reserve the right to amend advertised prices at any time on behalf of the Owner. We also reserve the right to correct errors in both advertised and confirmed prices.Special note: changes and errors sometimes occur.

6. Information & Accuracy

The information and prices shown on this website are varied from time to time and may change between the time you first view a property and make a Booking. You should check that all the details are as you expect prior to making a Booking. It is always possible that, despite our best efforts, some of the properties (including the features and extras available) may be incorrectly described and/or priced. If we discover this is the case after you have made a Booking, we reserve the right to contact you with details of the correct information and/or pricing and will give you the option to:

(1) proceed with the Booking based on the correct information and/or pricing, which may require the payment of an additional amount by you;

OR

(2) subject to availability, change your booking dates to dates when the pricing can be honoured ad so no additional charge to you. In the event that a lower price can be offered for alternative dates then the difference would be refunded;

OR

(3) cancel the Booking. If we do not receive your instructions within 5 days of contacting you, we reserve the right to cancel your Booking without liability to you.

7. Our Responsibility for your Booking

Your contract is with the Owner and its booking conditions apply. As Agent, we accept no responsibility for the actual provision of the Booking. Our responsibilities are limited to making the Booking in accordance with your instructions and acting properly in accordance with our legal duties as an Agent. We accept no responsibility for any information about the Booking that we pass on to you in good faith. However, in the event that we are found liable to you on any basis whatsoever, our maximum liability to you is limited to twice the cost of your Booking (or the appropriate proportion of this if not everyone on the Booking is affected). We do not exclude or limit any liability for death or personal injury that arises as a result of our negligence or that of any of our employees whilst acting in the course of their employment.

8. Pets

Not all properties accept pets. If you wish to take your pet on holiday, please advise us before booking and we can check whether pets are accepted at the property. You must obtain the prior consent of the Owner before taking any pets to the property. A nightly charge may be made by the Owner for each pet and additional terms may apply.

10. Visa, passport and health requirements.

Unless you tell us otherwise, we assume that all members of your party are British citizens who hold or will hold full British passports valid for the entire duration of the Arrangements you chose to purchase. Information on visa, passport and health requirements, where given and applicable, is so given on this basis. Requirements may change and you are therefore strongly recommended to check the up to date position with the Owner of the Booking, Passport Office, appropriate embassy or consulate or your doctor as applicable in good time before the commencement of your holiday.

11. Insurance

You are strongly recommended to take out personal travel insurance for all members of your party. It is your responsibility to ensure that the insurance you purchase is adequate and appropriate for your particular needs. Please read your policy details and take them with you on holiday.

12. Special requests

If you have any special requests (for example dietary requirements, cots or room location), please let us know at the time of booking. We will pass on all such requests to the Owner, but unfortunately, we can't guarantee that they will be met and we will have no liability to you if they are not.

13. Group Bookings

Not all Owners accept Bookings for a single sex group (for example, a stag or hen party). Guests wanting to make such a Booking should check with us beforehand to enable us to check whether the Owner is prepared to accept the Booking. We will then advise you accordingly. In event that an Owner does not accept this type of Booking then it is with regret, that the Booking may be cancelled and cancellation fees may apply. It is the Guest’s responsibility to enquire with Canopy & Stars and/or check on our website beforehand to make sure that this type of booking is permitted.

14. Maximum Numbers

Please note that except by prior arrangement confirmed in writing, only the number of persons specified on a booking confirmation may occupy  a property. Most owners reserve the right to refuse admittance or revoke a booking if this condition is not observed and you are unlikely to receive any refund.

15. Your Responsibilities

Please note that you have a contract with the Owner of the property. As such you are under a responsibility to behave in a proper, appropriate and legal manner whilst staying at the property with due respect to the Owner, the Property and other guests and their property. You are responsible for informing the Owner of any losses or damage to the property as soon as possible. Please note that you will be liable to pay the Owner for any losses or damage to the property caused by you or a member of your party (except reasonable wear and tear). Some Owners will also require damage deposits. You must also leave the property by the check-out time specified on your booking. If any guest behaves inappropriately or improperly (of which the Owner will be the final judge on their Property), or illegally, the Owner reserves the right to ask the guest and their party (at their discretion) to leave the Property before the end of the holiday period and/or refuse any future bookings from you.  Any refund for so doing will be at the entire discretion of the Owner. In addition, the Owner reserves the right to sue the guest for any loss, damage or injury caused to the Owner, the Property or to other guests and/or their property. As agent, we will have no liability to you in these circumstances.
