Penfret Lodge Tent - Safari tent in Finistère, France

Last cache: 17:05:58, Tuesday 20 March 2018

Bot-Conan Lodge

Suitable for children of all ages

Pets welcome

Children and well-behaved pets are more than welcome

A stylish and friendly family glamping escape in Brittany next to the beach. Anyone fancy a swim before breakfast?

Brittany is famous for its glorious sandy beaches, and Arnaud’s family site has two fabulous ones for you to enjoy, just minutes from your tent. Spend the morning paddling in the shallow waters or making a ‘sand château’ and then borrow one of Bot-Conan Lodge’s original postal bikes, tuck a baguette under your arm and explore the grounds and local area for the best picnic spot in suitably French style (the beret is optional).

The twenty or so safari lodge tents are authentic South African designs, while the spacious interiors have been decked out in a style that’s closer to home, with vintage fabrics from the château at Bot-Conan Lodge, and light drapes sectioning off the living and sleeping areas. Step outside onto the big raised deck which has as an outdoor kitchen and dining table so you can eat dinner in the evening sun. With so much to do and plenty of space to play, your kids will have made plenty of friends in no time! Hot showers are in two communal shower blocks nearby, newly renovated with grass rooves that blend naturally into the green landscape.

Being in Brittany, a welcoming bottle of local cider is of course provided on arrival, and there are countless places to sample an authentic crêpe. The local village of Beg-Meil has a regular market where you can pick up fresh produce, as well as a mouth-watering selection of seafront restaurants and ice cream shops. Ask Arnaud for a top tip for lunch!

Our guests say...

Our stay at Bot Conan was perfect. The location and site is idyllic, the accommodation is cool, the sun shone every day and our children had so much fun and made lots of friends

We had a brilliant time. Fabulous location and lovely people. Tents were really comfortable and the wood burner was a great addition on a chilly night. Loved the camp fires each evening.

We had a fantastic time the location was perfect and the beach was great for our young children

We had a fantastic week in a superb, very well equipped Safari tent. The facilities at the Lodge were excellent, in particular we weren't expecting a wood burner and our very own composting toilet. The location is beautiful and we really enjoyed the nearby coastal paths and beaches. Arnaud who runs the site ensured we had everything we needed during our stay and is clearly making improvements all the time - a zip wire was installed the week we were there which the kids loved and a sauna and hot tub had recently been delivered but yet to be unwrapped! Would highly recommend Bot Conan Lodge :)

Lovely place, great atmosphere and helpful hosts. We enjoyed our stay and found our needs well accommodated by Arnaud and his wife.

"Fantastic experience - idyllic. It was a perfect break."

"It was amazing! Please keep wi-fi only to the barn, do not extend to the tents. Kids played outdoors all day, wouldn't want to have to waste time arguing over screen time...."

Meet your hosts

From owner Arnaud:

"Back when I was a kid, I used to spend all my summer holidays at Bot-Conan and play for hours with the kids from the campsite my father had developed. Years passed, the campsite closed, and nature quickly took over.

As I was raising my own kids and looking for a fresh start, I remembered all those magical summers and asked myself, why not revive the business?

Knowing the value of this pristine environment, I decided to make it a glamping site with a few canvas tents set up on wooden decks. My idea was to offer a one of a kind experience to my guests, in harmony with nature without sacrificing modern comfort. It was quite a challenge to revive the campsite, renovate the bath houses and find the best and most appropriate accommodation, but together with my wife and my two kids, we succeeded! It is hard work but I always look forward to meeting with my guests and sharing with them my knowledge and tips on the area. It is now a great pleasure to welcome families and couples from all over Europe and see them enjoy, as I used to, this unique campsite."

Booking Terms

Canopy & Stars low price promise
Book with us in confidence knowing you won’t find that place cheaper elsewhere. All of the prices we display are set and matched by our Owners. (In this world of foreign currency, we do have to say 'subject to exchange rates' for some of our European places.)

What does ‘from price’ mean?
Our ‘from price’ is based on a four night stay in low season and designed to help you to compare different prices across our collection. Some of our Owners vary their nightly rates and check in days throughout the year, so it may differ from the rate quoted below the calendar. It is quite common (although by no means universal) for places to charge a little more in peak season or for shorter stays, to cover changeover costs. Consider booking longer stays during the cooler months if you’re looking for the lowest nightly rates.
