The important stuff

  • Check in: from 4 - 7pm. Later arrivals are normally possible with some advance warning.
  • Check out: before 11am
  • It’s always helpful to bring some newspapers to get the wood burner going - some are provided, but more is always good!
  • Please bring slippers or thick socks to wear in the alachigh.
  • Please advise your preferred sleeping arrangements on booking or once in contact with owner
  • Bring a torch – there is no outdoor lighting within the site
  • Scroll to the bottom of the 'Location' tab for full site map
  • Groups booking two or more tents will be asked for a refundable damage deposit on a scale of up to £500, payable 10 days in advance and refunded within 7 days to be organized directly with the owners and not through Canopy & Stars
  • Please remember: To ensure every guest has the best possible experience at Penhein, the owners will try to move groups staying together into adjacent spaces, which may affect which alachigh you stay in, but worry not as all are furnished to the same beautiful standard. Please make any special requirements clear on booking
  • Sleeping arrangements
  • 1 kingsize (splits into 2 singles), 2 truckle beds, sofa bed for extras

Extra space available

Space for 1 baby no charge. Cot and high chair available on request.

Space for 2 children no charge. Sleeping on sofa bed - can instead sleep one adult. Bedding provided.

Cooking

  • Wood burner in alachigh
  • Private fire pit outside
  • Cool box with frozen hot water bottles
  • There's also a communal "cheat's kitchen" complete with electric kettle, 2 electric hobs, microwave, toaster and a chest freezer
  • Each tent is amply stocked with cooking and BBQ equipment plus crockery, cutlery etc

Washing

  • Private ensuite flushing loo off main living area
  • Communal luxury shower block with 4 hot monsoon showers, 1 roll top bath and a flushing toilet - all with underfloor heating for ultimate comfort!

Heating, lighting & bedding

  • Wood burner
  • Lanterns and torches provided
  • All bed linen and towels provided
  • Electric lighting and several plug sockets in shower block as well as communal tent
  • Firepit outside each alachigh as well as the communal tent

Entertainment

  • Large communal tent (seats 30) with comfy tub armchairs, wood burner and large fire pit with seating outside
  • Variety of cards, board games and books available to borrow
  • Adventure playground, swings and rustic football pitch
  • Big box full of kit for outdoor games, including cricket, 'kick the can' and 'blind man's bluff'
  • Range of courses that can be pre-booked, including bushcraft and campfire cookery
