Places to visit

West Somerset Steam Railway has a station at Bishops Lydeard (3 miles away) and trips to the coast at Watchet and Minehead.

Local National Trust properties include Dunster Castle, Barrington Court and Coleridge Cottage in local Nether Stowey.  Arlington Court and the National Trust Carriage Museum is slightly further afield but worth a trip.

Wells is a beautiful city to explore with its Cathedral and The Bishops Palace.

Taunton offers The Museum of Somerset as well as a thriving theatre, a multiplex cinema.  There is a local farmers market every Thursday on the High Street.

Hestercombe House houses an art gallery for rainy days.  

Cothay Manor is a small medieval manor with 12 acres of gardens, and a tea room.  

The Walled Gardens of Cannington lie within the grounds of a medieval priory.  

Outdoor & Active

The Quantock Hills offer many beautiful walks and mountain biking from the doorstep of Tilbury Farm.  There are maps in the huts and the owners can arrange mountain bike hire.  

Pony Trekking is available at our neighbouring trekking stables – you can see the ponies grazing the adjacent fields to the farm.  

Wimbleball Lake on Exmoor for watersports.

Kilve Beach is the closest beach for fossil hunting and walking, with a tea room.

Tarr Steps on Exmoor with a lovely riverside walk and delicious cream teas at the pub.

On the Exmoor coast Porlock Weir, Valley of the Rocks, Lynton and Lynmouth are worth a drive.
