Welcome - Caroline and Nick

When Caroline and Nick took over The Linhay, it was in “a very sorry state”. However, during their renovation they have lavished love and care on the historic barn to create a unique holiday home.  The roof timbers and flooring are all oak which Nick harvested from their wood 4 years ago then it was seasoned and planked at a local sawmill near Braunton before returning home this year. The roof is of reclaimed slate and wherever possible they have used local suppliers, sustainable timber and local builders.

The combination of traditional, reclaimed and new materials have resulted in a wonderful blend of old meets new with a modern shower room and characterful living space. Whilst only a 2 ½ minute walk from the car parking area, there is a feeling of divine seclusion at the Linhay, there are no dwellings or buildings in sight and no vehicle sounds – just the sounds of wildlife and the stream. They experience the most fantastic starfields as there is no light pollution – nearby Exmoor is a dark sky reserve. It really is a space to enjoy and explore the meadows, woodland and the valley.
