At Downash Wood

Guests staying at Tinkers Treehouse, The Oakey Koakey Treehouse, Daisy Chain Cabin, Coddiwomple Cabin & Hidey-hole Cabin are provided tea, locally-roasted coffee (Bean smitten), hot chocolate, locally sourced milk and fruit juice are provided on arrival.

Willow the Wisp guests are provided tea, coffee, hot chocolates and UHT milk on arrival.

A locally sourced hamper can be provided at an additional charge from a fantastic local farm shop called Eggs to Apples. You can place an order on their website for delivery to the space you are staying in.

Nearest shops

The nearest shop is Londis which is a 25-30 minute walk by road or 15-20 minute walk in the drier months across fields using public footpaths.

Major supermarkets are in Hawkurst (5 miles).

Places to eat

The Bull Inn (15-20 minute walk at the end of Tinkers Lane) - a quintessentially British pub with fantastic food and service in two bars, restaurant and large outdoor spaces with a children’s play area.  A great place to walk to and enjoy lunch in the garden or dinner in the restaurant. 

The Bell (25-30 minute walk) - both a quirky hotel and gastro pub in the heart of Ticehurst village. The bar and restaurant areas are warm and comfortable, with log fires and friendly service, serving locally produced food and drink. 

The Cherry Tree Inn (10-15 minute walk) - a family friendly pub serving excellent food with great views and a children’s play area. 

Eggs to Apples (4.2 miles) - a farm shop and café which provides the Downash Wood guest hampers and is also a fantastic farm shop offering locally sourced and produced food and drink.

Weald Smokery (1.5 miles) - ‘The Kiln Room’ serves a seasonally changing breakfast and lunch menu where their ethos is ‘eat it, love it, buy it’ from their onsite farm and smokery shop.
