The Gypsy Camp - Bouncers Farm, Essex

Sleeps 4: 2 caravans with 1 small double each. The bender tent could also double as an extra bedroom. Children of all ages are welcome at The Gypsy Camp. Sorry, pets are not allowed.

The camps two bowtop wagons are genuine articles, carefully restored and set among the apple trees. The bowtops are the bedrooms and the bender tent with the day bed and the wood-burner makes a great daytime living space and can even sleep a couple of extra guests. The beds in the red and green wagons are a snug 3ft and 3ft 6" respectively but they really are just for sleeping in. The camp as a whole, all let as a single private space, is a great place for families or couples travelling together to get out of the city and enjoy the countryside. From the pigs living on the other side of the orchard, to the blooming apple and cherry trees and the masses of delicious local produce, everything at Bouncers Farm seems full of life. With the coast and its many little-known beaches just four miles away and central London an hour by train, it's an unusual and easy escape.

Our guests say...

"Wow! What a fabulous couple of days we have just spent at Bouncers Farm! It was my first time camping and I must say, it couldn't have been better. I took my mother and two children and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The gypsy caravans were lovely, the showers fabulously clean and hot, the farm full of animals... and Anne, the perfect hostess. Just magical! We will be re-booking in the summer to take Daddy and Grandad along for a taste of the Darling Buds of May!"

Sally, 13/04/2011

"We had such a wonderful time! The site is idyllic - the caravans hidden among the apple trees, animals roaming around and two days of rare sunshine in rainy June. We cooked on the open fire, drank red wine under the stars and read ghost stories by the log-burning stove. A perfectly clichéd camping experience."

Becky, 10/06/2011

"The best things were the very warm welcome from Ann, the beautiful setting and the animals."

Richard, 11/08/2010

"It really was just like something out of a movie set! They've all been telling mum about their exciting adventure; horse riding, cooking round the fire, searching for eggs, catching fish on the pier at Walton, Colchester Zoo (wonderful) and dining in style at The Ducane."
