Accessibility at our spaces

We want our places to be accessible to as many people as possible and are excited to be on a journey of discovery and collaboration with our owners, to create a collection of hand picked spaces that are both innovative and inclusive in their design.

Our primary aim is to ensure that all visitors can feel confident that their requirements will be met throughout their stay. Our new accessibility tab will offer peace of mind when choosing a booking by providing clear and accurate information on the relevant and accessible facilities that are available in each of our featured spaces.

Our initial focus will be around mobility, but moving forward we will be actively seeking more accessible places that cater for a wider range of access needs. If you have any specific access requirements, please get in touch with our Guest Experience Team who can put you in touch with the owner directly, if necessary. We look forward to welcoming you.

Flora & Fauna

Somerset

Flora & Fauna

Designed and created using Doc M principles for accessibility. Flora & Fauna are the first safari tent glamping site in the UK that has been planned and designed to cater for wheelchair users. The site is entirely accessible, and both spaces have accessible bathrooms, electric beds, accessible kitchen features, wheelchair charging points, a sunken hot tub as well as the ability to hire other specialist equipment, such as hoists.

The Wonham Oak

Devon

The Wonham Oak

A floating platform in the trees right in the middle of Devon. There’s a 40m track to/from the parking area, but the space is open plan and single-level, with lowered sills on entry points. The wetroom has handrails and a shower chair, but the best thing is the chairlift for the outside bath, so you can bathe under the trees, surrounded by nature.

Powys

River, By the Wye

River has a number of features to increase its accessibility. It has a dedicated parking space just outside the safari tent, with a hard-stoned woodland track leading to an entrance ramp, onto the decking where there’s a 3.2m wide bifold door. It’s all open plan inside, with same level wooden flooring, a wetroom style bathroom with wheel-in power shower, with handholds throughout, and a shower chair available on request. There’s also room to reverse wheelchair alongside the bed.

Our approach:

We are working with a disability consultant on an ongoing basis to help us and our owners have the right information and adjustments to make our spaces more accessible
We have appointed a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging and Accessibility Team who are there to monitor our activity and address challenges and opportunities we face as a business in these areas.
Our whole team have received Disability Awareness Training and our Guest Experience Team are on hand to help with additional questions or information about specific accessibility needs.
We are encouraging any owners building new spaces to make them accessible for as many people as possible
