The Hatch Cabin - Lindridge, Worcestershire

Sleeps 6: 1 double and 4 bunks. Children are very welcome at The Hatch, but unfortunately pets cannot be accommodated.

The Hatch Cabin is as eclectic as the Hatch is as a whole. Creatively and colourfully decorated by Ben and Nada with art, quirky objects, fabrics, rugs, big comfy bean bags and cushions for afternoon lounging, the odd musical instrument and fresh flowers from the garden, it's a cosy and homely space. Perfect for a group of friends, for a family happy to just hang out, or even as a romantic retreat. It's all quite informal: the four bunks, double futon and all sorts of other sleeping scenarios make for a flexible escape – as one would expect at The Hatch. Even though it's relatively close to the main house, it feels very private and peaceful. The views from its own little garden in the meadow are lovely. You'll see tiny marsh tits in the morning, woodpeckers almost every day and owls in the evening. The secret summerhouse a short stroll away is an unusual annexe. Outside there's a big, covered veranda designed for late afternoon lounging or a sunset BBQ. A few steps away is your private kitchen and bathroom.
The Hatch Cabin, while not remote, does feel like a little sanctuary. On your doorstep are 35 acres of rolling hills, ancient woodland, orchards, gardens and lake. Wildlife and walks are all around and so there's plenty of room to roam.
Relax, dream, wander, muse or just read a good book. You can even do a bit of stargazing through the telescope. There are blank notepads to scrawl ideas or creative thoughts – and then there's the music... Up at the main house there's a recording studio (yes!) and a performance space. There's a great programme of performances by nationally and internationally acclaimed artists, which guests are free to attend. In keeping with the style of The Hatch, it's all very inclusive and intimate and feels more like an impromptu gig than a concert. The charm of staying here isn't just in the comfort of the space itself, with its creative touches and informal style, but in the spirit of it, nurtured by Nada and Ben's family and friends. It all adds up to the most relaxing of places to be.

Our guests say...

"The Hatch was beautiful. Well looked after, lovingly set out and the veranda was a surprise that we were not expecting and allowed us to have a place to hold our afternoon tea party"

"It was absolutely glorious. A wendy house for grown-ups with a wonderful bank of fresh flowers to keep the bees buzzing nearby."

Lucy, 02/07/2011

“What special memories we have to cherish from The Hatch. It’s so beautiful and surreal. The view over the flourished green valley, the wild flowers. The attention to detail is what I will remember most. The fresh cut flowers, the lanterns, the decorative pine cones, the interior design just creates such a retreat feel. Thanks for making our weekend special.”

We have woken up to another glorious morning and almost cannot bear to leave this beautiful little spot. We have camped in the best campsite ever, seen the stars, eaten delicious vegetables and played to our hearts content. We’ve had a wonderful time, thank you so much for giving us such a great end to the summer.”
