Take a look at our glamping places where you can pick your own delicious homegrown fruit and veg.

Meadow Hut

Homely Meadow Hut at Lombard Farm in Cornwall lets you unwind in blissful seclusion, but with the option to join fellow guests at the site’s communal barn, The Link. You can pick your own produce from the farm’s vegetable garden and apple trees, and any excess has been known to end up on the big table in The Link to provide inspiration for your next meal. It’s easy to whip up a feast here in the well-appointed kitchen before flopping on the sofas for a sociable board game or round of cards. Once you’ve explored every inch of the farm and are ready to venture further, you’re spoilt for fantastic days out. Wander the majestic global gardens at The Eden Project, lose yourself in the wildlife at The Lost Gardens of Heilgan or stroll the pretty harbourside streets of Fowey.

Fifnella Retreat

The mouthwatering sight of the welcome hamper greets you on arrival at Scandi-style Fifnella Retreat in Herefordshire. As well as the usual essentials you’ll find local biscuits, crisps, seasonal fruit, apple juice and cider. All you need now are fresh veggies and they’re usually available from the organic garden on site at The Woodlands. With such plentiful supplies, it’s a doddle to cook up a delicious dinner in the kitchen or combined barbecue and pizza oven. In the unlikely event that the fridge starts to look bare it’s a one-minute stroll to The Fountain Inn. Or a few miles drive to Under The Nut Tree Supper Club that runs on weekends, offering delicious three-course meals in an idyllic nature setting. When you’re not eating, head out the door to walk in the hills or canoe on the glorious river Wye.

Jake’s Place

Kick off your shoes and exhale at Jake’s Place in Devon. Whether it’s the sea views, the huge windows, the light-filled interior or the big squidgy sofa, a magic cocktail of ingredients make it easy to relax in this tranquil spot among the hills. You’ll feel just as peaceful outside in the garden with your own stargazing hot tub and a sauna to ease any stubborn knots of tension that remain. Owners Nick and Dolly developed a love for working the land when living in Mexico and they bought this slice of heaven when they returned to the UK. They welcome guests warmly into their daily routine, running Monday pizza nights during the summer and inviting you to help out on the vegetable patch. Nearby, there are coastal paths to explore, trails through Dartmoor, and great surfing at Bantham beach.

The Gardener’s Shed

Owners Ed and Vicky invite you into their smallholding dream at Mello View farm in Somerset. You’ll stay in a cosy, renovated shed with spectacular views down the Axe Valley, surrounded by a menagerie of farm animals. You’re welcome to help yourself to fresh organic produce from the large terraced vegetable garden and if you’re not sure what to do with it, Ed runs cooking demonstrations in the farm’s kitchen. Groups of up to six can roll up their sleeves and learn skills like curing, smoking and vegetarian cookery. The grand finale involves sitting around the table to devour the meal you create. Your hosts also run social supper nights up at the house and a ‘pig club’ which admittedly might not be for everyone — they’ll raise a piglet for you and send you the meat when it’s ready.
