How to offer the best occasion experiences
As so many of the bookings we receive are celebrating an occasion, let’s take a look at what you can offer to guests to ensure they have a stay to remember.
Add these simple touches:
- Place hand cut flowers from the garden or meadow in a jar as a nice welcoming gift for your guests
- If you have a vegetable garden, you could even provide a bunch of homegrown vegetables
- Offering to provide a birthday card, balloons and/ or banner will go a long way
- You could provide a small gift of local chocolates, bottle of wine or fizz, nice soaps and bath oils
- Offer personal recommendations for sundowners and sunset spots, stargazing – or for watching the sunrise.
Opportunities to upsell:
- Tap into what extras you can offer on-site or nearby that couples can treat each other with or enjoy together.
- Do you offer on-site massages or beauty services?
- How about private yoga sessions, or woodworking courses, horse, riding, canoeing, wine tasting?
Southcombe Barn are a great example of offering occasion experiences. They offer sound baths, flower workshops and Indian head massages on site. Karen & David at Chiltern Yurt Retreat also offer massages, aromatherapy and reflexology, as do Will and Penny at Brook House Woods.
Other things you could do:
- Boost an experience you have already. For example, a midnight hot tub session for two (candles and a bottle of fizz) works just as well with a bath tub.
- Offer a romantic feast for two – guests can pre-order and book meals with the owners.
- Celebration hampers – Pomeroy Treehouse, The Lost Garden Retreat and Chateaux dans les Arbres all offer this. You could include things like prosecco, rose petals, flowers & strawberries.
- Creative activities – Wilderness Wood offers a brilliant programme of activities from green wood-working to felt making workshops
