Treecharging

The Wild 100: Treecharging

Harness nature's restorative power and treecharge your batteries, immersing yourself in nature, high in the treetops, surrounded by the swaying branches and the sound of birdsong.

Treecharging is only one type of experience that features in The Wild 100, our selection of the incredible things that come with our stays. You can see the full 100 here, or sign up to our newsletter and have them sent to you in inspiring episodes over the next few weeks.

Lost Meadow Treepod, Cornwall

21. Be the berry

You don't get much closer to nature than swinging gently from the branches in a berry bedroom. The treepod is (very securely) suspended off the ground, meaning you're rocked to sleep by the subtle motion of the tree and woken by the birds, puzzled by what you're doing up here, but happy to sing to you anyway.

Hideout Treehouse, Devon

22. Bath on rails

Treecharging should never be stressful, so it's good to know that everything will be perfect for your stay. Don't like where the bath is? Release the catches and slide it on rails from the end of the bed, out through the doors and onto the deck. Feel a spot of rain coming? Slide it back in and bathe indoors, with the pattering water as a soothing soundtrack.

Dumbledore Treehouse, Sussex

23. Stay and give back

Leave more than footprints when you stay at Dumbledore Treehouse. All visitors are encouraged to positively contribute to the ongoing care of the woodland. Get involved with learning woodland skills or helping progress projects. At the end of the day retire to your beautifully crafted treetop escape.

Two Pines, Northamptonshire

24. Learn and grow

This dazzling treehouse built in the heart of a 90-acre nature reserve allows you to treecharge in more ways than one. After luxuriating in the tub on deck, take a guided walk around the former WW2 airfield and learn how the site has been carefully rewilded over four decades. You'll come away with an even deeper connection to the land around you.

Rufus's Roost, Yorkshire

25. Reading nook tunnel

Part of treecharging is giving yourself time. Time to sit and think, listen to the birds or catch up on your reading. What you need for that is the perfect spot, with a little magic and total calm. A tunnel slide that takes you to a cosy reading nook might just be the best we've ever seen. Slip down, curl up and chill out.

Orchard Treehouse, Worcestershire

26. Bathing in the rafters

The sun setting over the misty Malvern hills, trees gently waving all around you. You feel at peace, at one with nature... but something's missing. Where's your bath? Actually, it's right at the top of the spiral staircase, waiting to add gently steaming water to the ways that nature is working magic on your stressed body. Just lie back, and enjoy the views through the little window beside it.

La Cabane des Figuiers, Dordogne

27. Just Feast

In a treehouse high up in the branches of a Dordogne forest, you can find total relaxation. You don't even have to get breakfast, as a basket of beautiful bakes and produce will be hooked onto a rope every morning, for you to hoist up to the deck. Lunches and evening picnic hampers can arrive by the same method, and soon you won't remember a time your meals didn't arrive by magic.

UFO, Norrbotten

28. Spaceship!

An out-of-this world experience in every sense, with a chance to see the northern lights glowing above the deep forests of Sweden, before taking a turn in the sauna and retiring to your UFO treehouse. As you climb up the ladder and close the door behind you, you truly leave the world behind and get some heavenly relaxation.

Uplands Treehouse, Bristol

29. Alpaca shower

The outdoor shower on the deck of Uplands Treehouse is a pretty relaxing place to be, as the steam drifts into the air and the trees rustle around you. But, if you're still finding it hard to unwind, take a look at the field next door and take some tips from the alpacas that wander lazily by as you wash.
