Team picks: Where we’re dreaming of escaping to next year

When we’re not out on the road, we’re usually plotting our next escape. Sometimes we do some work (promise), but mostly we daydream about cabins in the wild, steamy hot tub soaks and off-grid adventures in the great outdoors. Here are a few of the UK stays drifting through our minds as we ignore the ping of emails and imagine our next getaway.

I’m looking forward to staying at Coast & Canopy in Dorset. It has wild coastal walks right from the door and you get to witness the nature restoration work they’ve been working hard at and the wildlife it attracts. I’m a total bird nerd and over 100 species have been recorded in the area, so I’m pumped for some bird watching! I also can’t wait to meet the free-roaming pygmy goats!

I can’t seem to get enough of Wales at the moment, so I’ve got my eye on the Ffynone Bach. It’s the perfect location for exploring the beautiful coastline of Pembrokeshire, and after a day of hiking I’d happily soothe my legs in the sauna. I’m also planning a trip to Ragnarr in the Autumn. There’s a pub within walking distance, a wood fired hot tub and a cinema shed for cosying up in after a day of exploring. What more could you need?

I'm being greedy and dreaming about a stay for each season. Spring at Otby Lake Boathouse, rowing across the water as the trees turn green. Summer definitely calls for Box Barn, with family feasts and lazy evenings round the firepit. Autumn is made for Wild Vixen - they offer a fireside experience as an add-on so I'm desperate to get out there for bonfire night weekend! Winter has to be Ursabear. The cabin looks so cosy and it has a telescope for stargazing from a raised deck - dream!

A lot of my job involves seeing the new spaces we have every week, so I see a constant carousel of beautiful cabins, treehouses, yurts, shepherd’s huts etc, constantly coming my way. In October, I’m off the The Carn, but my next pick might be somewhere a lot more remote! I’d love to visit Ecotone Cabins near Ullapool, where the owner has put a lot of work into rewilding this beautiful area on the shores of a Loch. But one of our older spaces also catches my eye – The Hütte, because what views to wake up to! Plus, it’s wonderfully secluded, an incredible place to enjoy some downtime.

For summer, I've got my eye on Ankorya in Cornwall. When I was editing the page recently, I couldn’t stop admiring that stunning sea view. I’d love to head there with my partner and our dog, switch off properly, and spend the days on coastal walks before braving a sea swim. Bliss.

Since they’ve joined the collection, I’ve been dreaming of a weekend at The Heron’s Haunt in Yorkshire. I’ve been wanting to explore the Yorkshire area for a long time, and this cabin is in the perfect location. The book wall inside the cabin is an absolute dream and I'd love to spend time curled up on the sofa reading whilst the wood-burner crackles away. If the location and book wall wasn’t enough, I also love that this cabin has a copper bathtub and a wood-fired hot tub. Best of both worlds!
