Read time: 5 minutes
Decision fatigue has never felt more real. It creeps in through calendar pings, endless “What shall we do this weekend?” loops, and the quiet mental load of organising fun. By the time the weekend arrives, you’re both already exhausted.
Planning time together shouldn’t feel like work. That’s why we’ve created the ultimate Decision Detox guide for couples: treehouse weekends with the itinerary already built in, giving your brain a proper rest from mental admin. We’ve been doing this for over a decade and know a thing or two about building great weekends away, so let us handle the logistics while you focus on switching off and reconnecting. All you have to do is choose your escape and show up.
An indulgent escape designed for special occasions, reconnection and indulgent romantic reset weekends, with luxury touches built into every moment.
Check in after 3:30pm, fire up the hot tub and while it warms, connect your phone to the Bluetooth speaker and create a shared Spotify playlist for the weekend. Add songs as you go and you’ll leave with a personal soundtrack to remind you of your special occasion.
For dinner, local catering company Le Frog is just 15-minutes away and delivers French bistro-style meals directly to the treehouse, prepared with simple finishing instructions. No shopping or prep, just pour a drink from your private gin bar, light the candles and enjoy. Afterwards, sink into your oak-framed bed dressed in Icelandic sheepskins and let the surrounding forest do the rest.
Wake slowly and let Le Frog deliver fresh pastries for breakfast in bed before taking a late-morning taxi to Dart’s Farm for a fully indulgent daytime escape. Start with a massage and spa session in the infrared sauna room, then unwind in the lavender relaxation lounge.
Settle in for a two-course lunch or opt for an indulgent high tea. If you’re visiting between May and September swap lunch for their vineyard tour and tasting. Before heading back, browse the farm shop and pick up a dine-at-home hamper for dinner with the same ingredients used by top chefs. Back at Yggdrasil, cook together, then sink into the hot tub with your weekend playlist playing in the background.
Use the eggs and bread provided to make a slow breakfast and enjoy a relaxed morning in the trees. Head to The Lost Kitchen in Chettiscombe for a long, wood-fired lunch overlooking rolling Devon countryside and enjoy seasonal plates, open-flame cooking and terrace dining when the weather allows. For your final evening at Yggdrasil, light the firepit, open goodies from your Dart’s Farm hamper and stargaze from the hot tub in one of Europe’s darkest night skies.
A slow, grounding escape built around wild landscapes, elemental rituals and switching off from modern noise.
Check in after 4pm and arrive at your elevated hideaway on Cwm Llywi, a 470-acre working organic hill farm set deep within the Dyfi Valley. Step inside and discover the glass window built into the living room floor, where you can watch wildlife moving through the land below and feel immediately connected to the landscape.
Unpack, light the fire and step onto the deck to take in wide views stretching towards the Cadair Idris mountain range. This valley is part of a UNESCO-designated Biosphere, recognised for its unique environmental and cultural importance, and the sense of space and quiet is instant. Cook something simple, pour a warming drink and settle into your first evening of true switch off.
Wake slowly and begin the day wildlife spotting through the glass floor before stepping out of the door and straight onto Glyndŵr’s Way, the National Trail that passes through the farm itself. This ancient route winds through working farmland, forest tracks, moorland ridges and open hills, offering huge views across Mid Wales and a rare sense of walking through living landscapes rather than curated parkland.
Take your time, stop for hilltop snacks, then in the evening, head to Riverside in Pennal, an award winning, community run restaurant tucked within Snowdonia National Park, serving seasonal, locally sourced food surrounded by the landscapes it came from.
Drive to Hafren Forest, home to the source of the River Severn, and walk the seriously impressive boardwalk trails that weave through ancient woodland, mossy riverbanks and cascading waterfalls. Follow the river upstream, listen to the rush of water and breathe in the cool forest air, finishing your weekend in one of Wales’ most beautiful landscapes.
After your walk, head back to the treehouse and walk down to the sauna and plunge pool at the lower end of the site for a two-hour elemental reset. Move between fire and cold water, heat and fresh air, letting your body recalibrate. Return to Nyth y Barcud for a final evening overlooking the valley before heading home grounded, restored and reconnected to nature.
Netherby Treehouse is made for couples who bond best in the outdoors. We’ve put together a high energy escape for couples who want big experiences by day and hot tub recovery by night.
Arrive from 3pm and follow the gravel estate track up to your treetop basecamp overlooking the River Esk and Scottish borderlands. Drop your bags, change straight into outdoor kit and head out for your first hit of fresh air, tackling the old railway loop to shake off the drive.
When you get back, light the firepit and cook a high-protein first night dinner over open flames to fuel your body for the weekend ahead. Think marinated chicken thighs or spiced halloumi, charred veg and flatbreads warmed on the grill. While dinner cooks, fire up the wood-fired hot tub and let muscles loosen in preparation. Eat under the stars, plan tomorrow’s mission over a cuppa, then turn in early.
Start your day with a fuel focused breakfast of eggs on toast, porridge with honey, peanut butter and bananas, strong coffee. Pack trail snacks, water and swimwear then drive into the Lake District for your pre-booked guided adrenaline experience. Choose the Honister Via Ferrata for cliff edge ladder climbs, wire bridges and exposed mountain traverses, or if the weather is good book a canyoning session scrambling through gorges, sliding down waterfalls and jumping into plunge pools. Expect harnesses, helmets, adrenaline and plenty of fun.
Refuel afterwards at a nearby pub before returning to Netherby for full recovery mode. Straight into the hot tub, followed by horizontal time on the balcony while your body resets. As evening falls, light the BBQ again for a recovery feast then fall asleep feeling properly spent.
After a slower breakfast, drive into the North Lakes and pick up pre-booked e-mountain bikes for a fast-paced forest trail session. Fly through woodland tracks, climb hills without the burn and finish your weekend with speed, fresh air and adrenaline still in your veins.
Return to Netherby for one last hot tub soak and warm drinks on the balcony, letting tired muscles soften before packing up and heading home buzzing, spent and satisfied.
