Cabins near Bristol

Our cabins near Bristol are close enough that leaving the city feels plausible even on a slightly indecisive Friday afternoon. Within an hour or two, the city gives way to Somerset’s open farmland, the dense green of the Forest of Dean, and the winding river landscapes of the Wye Valley. It’s an easy shift from city streets to open space, without needing much planning at all.

Our cabins are scattered through these landscapes, each one built by a different owner with a different idea of what “getting away from it all” should look like. Because of that, no two cabin stays feel the same. The result is a unique collection of cabins that balance proper comfort with a close connection to nature and the land that surrounds them, so you can properly switch off without roughing it.

Why book your cabin escape near Bristol with Canopy & Stars?

We've done the hard part already.

Every cabin has been personally inspected, slept in and thoroughly poked about in, so you can book knowing it's genuinely worth leaving the city for.

Bristol's best escapes begin surprisingly close by.

Within a couple of hours, you could be walking the Cotswold Way straight from your front door, swimming in a private spring-fed pond right outside your cabin or borrowing bikes to explore the Somerset Levels.

Every booking supports people who care about these landscapes.

Our owners aren't building holiday parks. They're restoring woodland, rewilding the fields that surround your cabin and filling welcome baskets with produce made down the road. As a one of the highest-scoring travel B Corps, we also help fund environmental projects that protect the places people come here to enjoy.

FAQs for glamping near Bristol

How far from Bristol are your cabins?

One of the nicest things about living in Bristol is that escaping doesn't require military-level planning. Most of our cabins sit within one to two hours of the city, across regions such as Somerset, the Wye Valley, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Monmouthshire. Leave after work Friday and be sat around the firepit with a view of the countryside in time for sunset.

Why choose a cabin instead of a hotel?

Hotels are brilliant if you want someone else to make your bed every morning. Cabins are for people who'd rather wake to a dawn chorus than the sound of “housekeeping?!” in the corridor, drink their first coffee on a deck instead of in a breakfast queue, and spend the evening barefoot on the grass rather than navigating another hotel lobby. They still offer proper comfort, plenty of privacy and enough fresh air to remind you why weekends were never meant to be spent indoors.

What can I actually do during a cabin stay?

As much or as little as you like. Some cabins sit beside walking routes like the Cotswold Way, others have canoes almost on the doorstep, brewery tours next door, woodland saunas, yoga sessions, swimming ponds or miles of cycling straight from the gate. Or you can ignore every single one of those opportunities and spend three days moving only between the hammock, the hot tub and the kettle. No judgement here.

What should I pack for a cabin getaway?

Less than you'd think. Most cabins come with kitchens, comfy beds and everything you need for cooking. Always check the information provided on our website for your particular stay before setting off, but usually we would bring walking boots, clothes you won't mind smelling faintly of woodsmoke, swimwear if there's an outdoor bath, sauna or wild swimming lake, and one jumper that's warmer than you think you'll need.

Are cabins good all year round?

Very much so, they just change character. Spring arrives with blossom, birdsong and new green that brings with it a lovely sense of renewal. Summer is for doors thrown open, lazy breakfasts outside and evenings around the firepit. Autumn brings misty mornings and crunchy woodland walks. Winter is when cabins really come into their own, with log burners, huge picture windows and hot tubs that somehow feel more satisfying when the air is cold enough to make your nose tingle.

Are there off-grid cabins near Bristol?

Yes, several of our cabins invite you to stop a constant stream of notifications flooding through your little rectangle of doom for a couple of days, with compost loos, outdoor cooking, wood-fired baths and just enough electricity for the essentials. They're thoughtfully designed rather than deliberately difficult, proving that living simply doesn't have to mean sacrificing comfort.
