Our top cabins for a weekend break in Loch Lomond

There are few better places to enjoy a weekend away than in one of Loch Lomond's beautiful cabins. Surrounded by stunning scenery, with plenty of activities on offer, a cabin break in Loch Lomond is the perfect way to relax and unwind.

Alder Cabin

Loch Venachar is the perfect getaway for city dwellers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. Nestled in the Trossachs National Park, Loch Venachar offers miles of scenic cycling routes, hiking trails, and water activities. Visitors can also enjoy a ride on the SS Walter Scott, a historic paddle steamer that plies the waters of nearby Loch Katrine. Whether you're looking for adventure or simply want to relax in nature, Loch Venachar is an ideal destination. Wildlife enthusiasts will be thrilled by the abundance of bird and animal life in the area, including golden eagles, peregrine falcons, ospreys, otters, and even beavers. And at night, stargazers will be treated to some of the best views in Scotland thanks to the area's Dark Sky Reserve designation.

The Douglas Boathouse

The boathouse is a perfect place for a weekend break. It is located right on the edge of the loch, with a beautiful view. The collection of games and books provides plenty of entertainment, and the boathouse is also perfectly placed for wildlife watching, hiking, mountain biking and sailing. The owner Dave recommends the short stroll out to Newton Island, about half a mile from the boathouse, but there are more challenging hikes like Beinn Mhor in the Trossachs National Park, which starts a couple of miles to the east. The boathouse is an ideal location for those who want to enjoy the beauty of nature while also being able to jump into in activities.

Pilot Panther

The history of the Pilot Panther is as fascinating as the views from its windows. Originally built in 1950 by Pilot Caravans in Telford, it was one of a line of showman's wagons designed for travelling fairs and circuses. In 1961, the company changed hands and became Torton Bodies Ltd, but the Panther continued to roam the countryside, delighting children and adults alike. These days, it has settled in a beautiful location overlooking a loch, and it provides stunning views for its guests. If you're looking for an unforgettable Scottish getaway, the Pilot Panther is certainly worth a visit.

Burnhead Bothies

If you're looking for a place to get away from it all, Burnhead Bothy is the perfect spot. Nestled in the hills of South Lanarkshire, the bothy offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Whether you're watching the sunrise over Goatfell on Arran or admiring the city lights of Glasgow and Edinburgh at night, you'll be mesmerized by the natural beauty of this place. The bothy itself is quite spacious, with plenty of room to relax and unwind. There's also a wood burner for those chilly evenings. So if you're looking for a peaceful retreat, be sure to check out Burnhead Bothy.
