Our favourite glamping places with hot tubs in Powys

You get a sense of space and expansiveness in the rolling landscape of Powys. An urge to linger among the green hills and watch the sheep amble past as you inhale deep lungfuls of fresh Welsh air. Stay in one of our glamping places with a hot tub and you can relax for hours in the warm water gazing at those gorgeous views. By night, the dark skies overhead provide the perfect backdrop for an epic celestial display, and perhaps even a tantalising glimpse of the Northern Lights from the Brecon Beacons National Park. Take a look at our glamping spaces in Powys with hot tubs.

Cnocell y Coed

The huge, glass-fronted balcony of Cnocell y Coed treehouse is the perfect place to do some yoga or sip a morning coffee as you gaze out over the breathtaking Welsh valley below. Once your nervous system feels suitably nourished by the views, meander down the steep path to the Den underneath for a bubbly soak in the hot tub. Then it might be a spot of lunch whipped up in the spacious kitchen, a few board games in front of the wood burner and a walk in the woods spotting the resident birds. Perched in between the Shropshire Hills AONB and the Brecon Beacons, the surroundings are so gorgeous that the hosts at Rhiw Wood Treehouses provide a "get inspired" hamper to every guest to get the creative juices flowing. They also offer fossil hunting days in the nearby quarry, den building on site and massages and spa treatments.

Stellar Safari Lodge

Round up the family or a few mates and wander back to nature at Stellar Safari Lodge. You might not spot the big five, but you’ll definitely see sheep and wild cattle grazing in the fields. Crossing the little bridge that leads to your private camp sets the tone for a peaceful Powys getaway that is secluded, but not isolated. The Lon Farmhouse site has a few other cabins hidden away and nature trails to explore with maps provided. The wood-fired hot tub on the deck comes into its own at night — the entire Elan Valley has International Dark Sky status and is protected against light pollution so crystal clear star gazing awaits. You’ll appreciate the views of the Milky Way even more with a glass of fizz after a feast whipped up in the pizza oven. If you want to venture further afield, there’s a swimming pool close by at Rhayader, cycling adventures at Pump Track Wales, a climbing centre at Llangorse and kayaking in the Elan Valley.

Oaken Fort

Wales is the castle capital of Europe, so it feels fitting to stay in your own regal fort overlooking misty valleys on the Welsh border. Oaken Fort is fit for a Queen or King (and utterly Insta-worthy) with a huge copper tub in the bedroom, a look out bar, reading hammock, sheepskin rugs and the all-important hot tub on the deck. This one is in a league of its own – you’ll linger for hours watching the light change over miles of rolling countryside. Adventures are waiting around every corner – climb Offa’s Dyke, explore the majestic Black Mountains, tour historic market towns or head to the nearest village pub with a flagstone floor, exposed beams, an open fire and local ales on tap.

Two Valleys Retreat

Visit the lambs in lambing season, walk in the woods, then scamper back to your safari tent to stargaze from the wood-fired hot tub. In true Powys style the tub has incredible views over the valleys, and, in this secluded spot, you’ve got the entire hillside to yourself for BBQs, outdoor games and lazy hammock sessions. The colourful, Tardis-like space sleeps seven in three double beds and one single and although you’re officially under canvas, there’s a bathroom with a gas-heated shower and flushing loo. On the doorstep there are historic market towns to visit like Kington and Knighton, outdoor activities at Oaker Wood Leisure and beautiful gardens at Hergest Croft, with views towards the Black Mountains. If you’ve forgotten to pack a book just head to one of the twenty bookshops in Hay on Wye.

Shepherd’s Hill

Welsh shepherds clearly like to do things in style if Shepherd’s Hill is anything to go by. Few hot tub views can hold a candle to the jaw-dropping panorama from this one, a whopping 1,000ft high in the Welsh hills. Recline in the warm water watching the hazy morning mist in the valleys below and watch the red kites swooping over the fields. It’s no surprise that everything inside this sustainable cabin, from the bed and the copper bathtub to the seating area, is angled towards the huge windows. During your stay you’re welcome to help out on the farm or you could go for a scenic ride from Underhill stables, cycle to the Elan Valley reservoirs or visit the historic spa town of Llandrindod Wells with its own lake and annual Victorian festival. The town has been voted the happiest place to live in Wales for three years running, so a good day out is practically guaranteed.

The Warren

The Warren is lighter and more spacious than it sounds, but just as cosy. With a curved earth roof, huge glass frontage and palatial interior it’s got one of most luxurious bathrooms in our collection (and some of the most stylish jewel-coloured sofas). The electric outdoor hot tub is on the large patio near the firepit with views over the 300-acre farm. The site is yours to explore with a stream for paddling, mini beast hunts and walking trails as well as paths that lead off into the surrounding hills. When the interior is this sumptuous you might be tempted to stay put, preparing slap-up meals in the forest green kitchen, getting competitive over the board games and lolling in the hanging chair. You’ll come away with happy memories and some new design ideas to test out at home.
