We inspect every place in our collection
Since 2010, we've visited every place in our collection ourselves. We stay overnight, meet the people behind each space and spend time getting to know the landscape around it, because a cabin can look wonderful in photographs and still feel very different when you arrive.
For our Lake District cabins, we're looking for that feeling of being properly immersed in the landscape. Does the cabin make the most of its surroundings? Is it somewhere you'll be excited to return to after a day on the fells? Does the cabin feel like somewhere you could happily hunker down if the weather turns? If we wouldn't want to spend a weekend there ourselves, it doesn't make the collection.

There’s flora and fauna you can’t find anywhere else and phenomenal eateries serving local and seasonal food. There’s no substitute for experiencing it yourself and most of all, experiencing it from a cabin.
