Treehouses you need to book for 2024

There’s a good chance you’ve spotted these spaces on the site before, and with good reason. Each one is uniquely designed, crafted from renewable materials, well located, with incredible features like outdoor bathtubs showers, fire pits and more. But what might be the most common element they share is that you’ll almost never see them with last-minute availability. If you’ve had your eye on one for a while, here’s your chance to be the early bird and put something in the calendar to look forward to in 2024.

The Rook's Tower, Herefordshire

Enjoy the simpler things in life – a quiet forest, a good book, the crackle of the open fire, but there’s plenty to do if you fancy a day out. There are many beautiful places to visit and if you decide to stay, you get an extensive digital guidebook to plan things if you need it.

Designed to let you simply enjoy the woodland, there’s huge corner windows let the views and light flood into the open-plan living space, where you’ll find the big sofa, wood-burner and handcrafted double bed. There’s even a tree growing right up through the deck, so you really are surrounded by nature. The bathroom has a powerful shower, while the kitchen has everything you need to whip up a great meal. Down on the ground there’s a chiminea and seats so you can finish the day in the gentle glow of the fire and the deep peace of the woods.

Two Pines, Northamptonshire

Set into a 90-acre nature reserve, the treehouse is an oasis of leisure; you’ll spend hours padding around barefoot, luxuriating in downtime before you remember the other 89.75 acres to explore. After a long day of exploring the outdoor gallery and woodland, make use of the outside copper bath for nude stargazing and fall asleep to a dreamy arboreal backdrop with the view from the floor to ceiling window in the bedroom. If you’re feeling lazy, take the short drive to the local pubs or restaurants. If inspiration takes you, make use of the oven, hob, firepit with grill or wood fired pizza oven, and dine al fresco on the veranda, enjoying a candlelit dinner beneath the stars.

With plenty of local walks, activities on the river and restaurants a short drive away, Two Pines promises a memorable stay.

Silva Treehouse, Cumbria

This gorgeous space has been 15 years in the making! The kitchen is fine for whipping up simple meals but there’s a BBQ, pizza oven and firepit for al fresco meals and stargazing nights. Underneath, you’ll find the games area, which answers the question of where that slide goes. It’s a big kids’ den with hammocks, a ping pong table and a bar that you can zip down into for great games nights or some peaceful napping.

Silva’s location in the trees was carefully chosen for immersion in nature, especially wildlife spotting. Around you is the wonderful wilderness of the Lake District as well as the SSSI of the River Eden. Between them you can hike for miles to sandstone caves, hidden waterfalls and spectacular mountain viewpoints, or take a more gentle excursion on the Ullswater Steamers. Come home to sit round the firepit and stare up at immaculate starlit skies.

The Perigord Treehouse, Hampshire

Settle into the casual luxury of a magnificent treehouse - the first ever built on a UK vineyard. Gaze out across the rows of vines from six metres off the ground, or head over to the winery for lunch or a guided tasting.

Revel in the simple things, soak in the giant zinc bathtub. Everything from the dark cladding, to the luxurious double bed, the welcome hamper, goat’s milk soap and a selection of Black Chalk wine, has been carefully chosen and beautifully finished.

You can organise winery tours and even go truffle hunting in season walking the beautiful grounds in search of the earthy treasures. Beyond the farm, the lovely Test Valley awaits, with walks along the banks of the river and climbs to hilltop views and fantastic old pubs like the Peat Spade Inn, where you’ll find the local produce, both edible and potable, showcased on wonderful menus.

The Bower Treehouse, Somerset

Everything here is organic and deeply connected to nature, from the king-sized bed carved from stag oak, to the bath salts, candles and the woodland setting. It feels like a total escape from modern life, but with the luxurious touch of the huge outdoor bathtub adding some foamy, delicious luxury. After a long soak, stroll inside and stretch out on the sofa with the wood-burner glowing and a glass of chilled champagne in hand. Or, if you fancy living a little wilder, head down to ground level and get the firepit or the BBQ going for al fresco cooking or toasted marshmallow desserts.

On one side, there's a cosy living room with a log burning stove and on the other is the bedroom and a luxury underfloor-heated bathroom. With Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery, Stourhead House, Frome Independent Market and Glastonbury Abbey all on your hand-crafted doorstep.

The Rook's Nook, Herefordshire

What looks like a Scandinavian cabin on the outside gives way to a warm casbah feel inside. The open-plan space has a fully equipped kitchen and a lounge area with a leather sofa and a wood burner, for lazy days of napping and reading. Outside on the deck you’ll find seating and a table for outdoor dining. Down at ground level there’s a chiminea and seats where you can cuddle up in the glow.

The Rook’s Nook is a place for simple pleasures - reading, walking and generally unwinding, but there’s plenty to do if you fancy getting out and about. The Bromyard Downs nature area is full of great hiking trails and there’s a world of different gardens at Ralph Court. There are some great local eateries and the amazing Green Cow Kitchens makes a great special night out before you return to your quiet hideaway in the trees.

The Fallow Treehouse, Hampshire

Overlooking the vines of the Black Chalk vineyard, this gorgeous treehouse invites you to lie back in the outdoor bath, grab a bottle of incredibly local wine from the fridge and relax. The winery a short distance away if you fancy a more formal tasting, but you’re free to wander the beautiful woods and settle where you will for a glass of something chilled and a picnic. Your dog will love it here too; should you wish to bring them they will be well catered for with their own bedroom.

You also have the beauty of the Test Valley right on your doorstep. There are great hikes along the riverbanks and climbs to stunning viewpoints, as well as gentler walks to local pubs like the Peat Spade Inn. Truffles are a regional specialty, and in season you can arrange to go hunting them in the woods. Best sampled with a glass of fizz from your treetop bathtub.
